How to Create Mock Recordings

How to Create Mock Recordings

We need to understand how Team Around the Child meetings actually sound and flow in practice.

Please record the audio and write up the meeting minutes and Child’s Plan that would result from that meeting if it were real.

How to create your mock recording

  1. Get the right people involved. Ideally, get another teacher to play the role of a parent. If you think it might be possible to involve a child in the role play, that would be amazing! Just let us know and we can provide consent forms for the child and parent/guardian.
  2. Plan your fictional scenario. Create or agree on a fictional child, family situation and school. You could use a fictional family everyone knows (like the Simpsons or Joe/Jane Bloggs) or make it all up.
  3. Get decent audio quality. Use any microphone available. A webcam mic or laptop/iPad/phone is fine. Most will have a pre-installed app for recording audio: ‘Voice Memos’, ‘Voice Recorder’ or ‘Sound Recorder’. Do a quick test recording at the start to check everyone can be heard clearly before recording the full meeting.
  4. Record a realistic meeting. Have a natural conversation following your usual TAC meeting structure and process. Include the kinds of discussions and outcomes that are typical in your experience.
  5. Create the documents. Write the meeting minutes and Child's Plan exactly as you would after a real meeting with the same content. You could even record yourself talking through this process, if you’d like!
  6. Email the audio and documents to us at angela@helpfirst.ai

We really appreciate your help with this – it makes all the difference to creating something that works brilliantly for Scottish ASN admin!
